Martin Matula (* 2002) is currently studying for a master's degree at the Contemporary Photography Studio at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. In 2022, he graduated from the School of Art Industry in Košice, majoring in Photographic Design. In his work, he focuses on the intersection of documentary and conceptual approaches, His visual language is characterized by sensitive work with light and the search for "genius loci" in seemingly banal situations. His work is characterized by a sense of the ephemeral and the transience of everyday life. In 2025, he was awarded Young Talent of the Year in the SLOVAK PRES PHOTO competition and was also a finalist in the Students and Young People under 26 category. In the same year, he was selected by the Dutch magazine GUP in the FRESH EYES competition as one of the 100 best young photographers in Europe and was nominated for the "Personality of Czech Photography under 30" award. In addition, he exhibited at Designblok 2023 and in several collective exhibitions, such as the Festival of Contemporary Art in Prostějov, Homo photographicus in Ostrava, and Borders II in Katowice.
